Calling all student solar innovators! The Department of Energy and National Renewable Energy Laboratory recently launched a new student competition called the Solar District Cup Collegiate Design Competition. The Solar District Cup challenges multidisciplinary teams to design and model optimized distributed energy systems for a campus or urban district, integrating solar, storage, and other distributed technologies and capabilities across mixed-use districts. This competition gives college students the unique opportunity to reimagine how solar energy is generated, managed, and used in a district.
Designed to inspire students to consider solar industry career opportunities, learn new skills, and engage with the professional marketplace, the Solar District Cup prepares students to become leaders in the next generation of distributed solar energy. As competitors, students will:
- Build experience with real-life examples of innovative renewable energy design
- Develop real-world solutions that pave the way toward the future of solar energy
- Compete to win a Solar District Cup division and receive national recognition!
You can subscribe to the Solar District Cup newsletter to receive updates and follow the competition. Learn more about competing as a student or participating as a faculty advisor in this one-of-a-kind challenge.
