Geothermal energy is a baseload power source that can provide a constant stream of energy to regional communities and can also supply direct heating and cooling to a single home or building.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, California is “the nation’s top producer of electricity from geothermal energy, with almost 2,700 megawatts of installed capacity and 43 operating geothermal power plants … [including] the largest complex of geothermal power plants in the world.”
